Choose one part of Colombo from your own starting point: Colombo 7 for Upali’s, Colombo 3 for Number 11 and Barefoot, or Fort for a booked crab meal. These are outing areas, not lodging locations.

Colombo makes a good food-and-architecture layover. Start with rice and curry at Upali’s; add Number 11 only with a confirmed tour slot and enough time for the journeys. Barefoot is the simpler choice for tea, a light meal and textiles in one stop. A crab dinner is a separate splurge, not the cheap default.

Keep Galle, Kandy and animal excursions out of a short working layover. A long roster gap does not automatically leave a full day free after sleep and crew pickup time.

Getting back before pickup

Set your accommodation as the start and end of the outing. Check both journeys, waiting and any connections before leaving. Set a leave-by alarm that gets you back with time for rest and preparation before your required crew pickup. Cut the extra stop if the return becomes uncertain.

City journeys and payment

Compare PickMe and Uber for the actual destination, fare, vehicle and wait. Agree a street tuk-tuk fare before boarding if you choose one. Keep small LKR notes; Number 11 requires cash in LKR, even though other major venues take cards.
